Gloomy Evening

The picture was taken during the last Christmas, when the snow melted quickly and there was a large amount of precipitation, which led to extensive spills of the Odra into the surrounding meadows and dead ends. Next to the flora of the herbaceous floor of floodplain forests in the spring, the spills are the most valuable things for me to photograph. The photographed place has a great, even symbolic meaning for me. It was here that 17 years ago, as a primary school student, I started taking my first pictures of Poodří. However, thanks to the receding water, the place took on a whole new dimension, and thanks to the reflection on the surface I was able to highlight the remarkable shapes of the trees. I shot with an ultra-wide angle lens for one fifteenth of a second. A gray heron randomly flying by looks like a bat thanks to longer exposure times and underlines the overall impression of the atmosphere of that evening. 2023
